Management Development Programme
Waltham Forest have introduced a development programme to cultivate leaders
able to respond to the increases pressures faced by local governments. We
were sought to provide facilitation services, executive coaching and delivery
of modules for the Waltham Forest Leadership Programme. We ran the pivotal
module to the programme in leadership skills which takes managers through
a series of exercises to heighten awareness of personal leadership styles
and how it impacts on the results they get from their people. For this course
we use the Blanchard model of Situational Leadership, and ask participants
to self assess using a questionnaire to understand their preferred style.
We also integrate ideas and concepts from writers on leadership such as
John Kotter and research by the CIPD.
The Chief Executive stated that this module has enabled Council managers to lead the organisation through transformational change in a very political environment. As a result of this success we have been asked to facilitate and give master classes to their after work “Mountaineering Club”, a forum for high potential leaders, and provide Executive Coaching to Senior Managers.
