When I formed Basis in 1993 I had a strong sense of what I wanted it to be – and what I didn’t want. I wanted strong ethical values and commitment to doing the right thing for clients. I wanted to be able to help clients with their genuine business needs and view their problems from fresh perspectives. I didn’t want to focus on fees and be chasing sales. I wanted to be brave enough to turn down work if I wasn’t right for the client or they weren’t right for me.
I suppose what I was after was a bit of openness and honesty from a management consultancy company for a change. Perhaps this seems idealistic but I am very proud that Basis has high standards and is driven by its values and principles. The large proportion of our business that comes from repeat sales, referrals and recommendations encourages me to think that our clients appreciate our way of doing business.
